2022-08-13 08:13:22 By : Ms. Vicky Zhang

Every week we will introduce you to some of the most adorable, adoptable pets available from our partner shelters Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter, Tri-County Humane Society, Pet Haven of MN, Hawk Creek Animal Shelter, Underdog Rescue, MN, Midwest Animal Rescue & Services and Ruff Start Rescue. Join us Fridays as we introduce them to you on Classic Hits KDUZ.

Heart of Minnesota Animal Center – Buddy

Hi, I’m Buddy, and people tell me that I’m a ball of energy! I’m a young boy that has had very little training in my 2 years. I’m ready to learn about the “good life”, I hear so much about. Will you show me? I love to play tug with my tassel rope , and I’m pretty good at it! I like to take walks and stretch my legs…I might even be a great running partner.

I’m getting better on a leash. There’s a special kind I wear that reminds me to enjoy the walk instead of trying to rush it. I also love to play ball – but I am easily distracted, especially by yummy snacks. Are you ready for a loyal friend? Then I’m your Buddy!

Ruff Start Dog & Cat Rescue – Jade

My name is Jade, and I’m a 1-year-old Domestic Short Hair female cat. When I heard of Ruff Start, I knew you’d be waiting for me. That’s why I wandered onto my foster mom’s farm and told her about how I’m looking for you. She said she’d help me find you, so here I am!

I’m a total laid back, go-with-the-flow sweetheart and I love to be held and pet – I’ll tell you so with purrs and rubs! I’m a model house guest and have been sure to never do my business outside of my litterbox. I get along well with other cats, but dogs are a little scary. I’m sure I’ll be more comfortable once I’m around them more, but can you blame me? They’re big and loud! One thing to know about me is that I’m a diabetic, meaning I need one insulin injection per day. I’m not fussy about this – I’m just thankful you’re there to take care of me!

Hawk Creek Animal Shelter – Valencia

Hello, my name is Valencia. I’m such a pretty girl that I would like to be the queen in my new home and not have to share your love and attention with other felines. I’m a talker and will ask how your day was and share my thoughts with you. Looking out windows to see what is going on in the neighborhood is how I like to spend my down time. I enjoy hanging out next to you instead of being held, but if I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and need a break, I will communicate by putting my mouth on your arm or hand.

Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) – Randy/Max

Max is a super happy go lucky dog. He loves any type of outdoor activities! Which include chasing baseballs after you hit them into the outfield. He’s a great swimmer, and super playful. Max has been living in an apartment and isn’t getting the room or space he needs. Max is very curious. His nose will lead him to smells not only outside, but as well of anything you cook. When it’s bedtime Max will sleep in his kennel or bed with no issues. He will jump into bed with you for a bit to give you goodnight kisses and cuddles. Max loves showing affection to everyone he meets!

Max does have some short hair in a few places due to a skin thing he had. Don’t worry! Current foster mom has gotten him through all his meds! It’s growing back super fast and he seems way more comfortable in his fur. Max had potty issues when first moving into the apartment. We worked quick and fast on it and haven’t had an accident since! He’ll definitely let you know now when he needs to go out. Max still has a few puppy teeth. He needs lots of hard toys and a Kong to help him keep his mouth busy. Overall Max is a wonderful dog who would benefit greatly in home. Click here! to apply today!

Tri-County Animal Shelter – Eddie

Eddie is looking for a home! This very good boy arrived at Tri-County Humane Society as a stray, so we don’t know anything about his past. We estimate he’s around 2 years old, and he’s been neutered.  While staying with us, Eddie has been a perfect gentleman: He keeps his kennel clean, so he appears to be housetrained, and he is sweet to everyone! Eddie would love a household that’ll help him get plenty of exercise. He adores treats and will take them from your hand very gently. What he’s less gentle with: stuffed animals, so durable toys such as Kongs would be best toy for this boy.

Underdog Pet Rescue of MN – Aster

My name is Aster, and I am looking for my forever home.  I am an adult Boxer and I weigh about 56 pounds. I understand that’s a bit too lean for a girl my size, so I’m working on gaining about 10 pounds.  I’m not your typical bouncy Boxer. All I knew before coming to my foster home, was how to be a good mama.  I’m a bit timid when it comes to all the new things I’m experiencing.  I really don’t like riding in the car, but I have learned how to walk down the stairs!  I am learning so much about being in a house – I am a potty-training champion and doing great on a routine and haven’t had any accidents in the house. I am willing to go potty on a leash and I am good at walking on a leash too, so my forever home doesn’t require a fenced in yard as long as we get enough exercise on our walks.

I do love the company of other dogs and they really help show me confidence and how to be a dog.  I feel safe in my crate, so I spend a lot of time in there.  I have a fluffy lamb toy I like to keep by my side when I am relaxing or sleeping.  And I really like to sleep in front of the mirror….  who knew? So far, I haven’t barked at all, and I mostly keep to myself.  But I want you to know that when I do open up, I want to be by your side and hug and kiss you all day.  I just need a forever home where my people will be very patient as I learn all that this big new world has to offer and learn to trust you.

I think I’m going to love you, Aster.

Pet Haven of Minnesota – Zeus

Zeus is bold, goofy, lovable, and looking for his next adventure! He is the perfect combination of courageous and curious; serious and frivolous; enchanting and faithful. He is seeking a forever family that will love being greeted with a wiggly butt and full-face kisses. One who will take him on all sorts of adventures, and will unconditionally love all of his quirks and his bold personality.

Zeus loves his people and isn’t afraid to show it! Zeus is a 5-year-old, 70-pound, Norwegian Elkhound/Husky mix. True to his breeds, Zeus enjoys physical activity and mental engagement. Going for a walk or sitting outside is the best, most exciting part of his day. He has free-roam access of a fully fenced backyard and enjoys chasing bunnies, treeing squirrels and sniffing whatever might be under the deck. On days where walks or sitting outside isn’t possible, Zeus enjoys playing with treat dispensing toys, squeaking his toys, or watching the world go by out the window. He can be vocal when playing, exhibiting his excitement with play growls and woofs. At the end of the day, Zeus is ready for belly rubs and scratches, or sprawling out, spread eagle on the floor to snooze.

Zeus’ ideal adoptive home would be with an active single person or family with older children (16+years) who are not gone for extended periods of time. Due to him being under socialized with some human activities and dogs, we are not recommending Zeus go to a home with young children or other dogs. True to his breeds, Zeus has an extremely high prey drive; therefore, he should not be in a home with cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, etc. His ideal adoptive home would be a single-family residence with a fence so he can free roam; however, a fenced-in yard is not required. Shared walls are not recommended due to Zeus expressing his loneliness with songs.
